Mission Statement

Of Milk and Honey is dedicated to increasing bee populations through a combination of education, production of pollinator friendly products, and partnerships with charitable organizations and like-minded businesses.

Our free Basic Bees class is just one way that we reach out to educate the local community. In this class we teach the difference between honeybees and native bees.

Education

Of Milk and Honey believes that change starts with the individual. For that reason, we produce resources that the average person can use to make life-long changes that impact bees in a positive way.

Some of our methods include:

  • teaching free classes
  • engaging in public outreach at Farmer's Markets
  • publishing blog posts on a variety of relevant subjects
  • maintaining an educational social media presence
  • providing printed materials

Fee-based classes are also offered for groups and individuals needing more intense, specific instruction. Donations are accepted to offset these costs and to provide free materials to groups and individuals that request them.

Our beeswax lotion bars are made using only beeswax from our own hives, organic shea butter, and organic sunflower oil.

Products

Each item that we make has a purpose.

Our bath and beauty products are created using organic oils and butters, to avoid the pesticides that kill our bees.

Our colorants are 100% natural mineral pigments or are crafted from plant materials, to avoid the water pollution which can result from synthetic dye production and use.

We strive to use ingredients that are naturally occurring or derived from a natural source. For example, we incorporate coconut-derived stearic acid, vegetable based glycerin, and organic fruit or vegetable purees.

Our own raw honey and beeswax are featured often, emphasizing our mantra of "know your beekeeper".

You can rest assured that you are purchasing a product that is good for you, and good for the bees.

Different types of bees have different roles, we need them all. In the same way, other companies are not our competition. By working together, we achieve more.

Partnership

We support charitable groups, and partner with for-profit businesses that share in our mission.

Of Milk and Honey proudly supports the work of the Xerces Society. www.xerces.org

In addition to supporting non-profits, we also work with traditional for-profit businesses that align with our goals. As an affiliate of Crown Bees, we are able to share in a wealth of native bee knowledge and to provide the materials needed for average people to be successful raising these bees themselves.

As a stockist for Bees Wrap, we support a company  that is environmentally responsible, and provide an effective remedy to the modern kitchen's addiction to single-use plastics.
